Summer To Do: Lauritzen Gardens' Tempo of Twilight Series

This past Tuesday we headed down to Lauritzen Gardens to check out their summer concert series, Tempo of Twilight. Each week a band sets up on the patio of the gardens and concert goers can bring lawn chairs and blankets and sit around the grassy knolls of Lauritzen. There is food to be purchased, with different main courses every week, but you can also just bring your own munchies and beverages, including wine. We had our own lovely menu of pita bread, pita chips, hummus, goat cheese, cantaloupe, and, of course, wine. While we were sitting in such a spot that we couldn't actually see the band, it was shady, and we could hear the music just find. The band, The Fabulous Rogues, was a 60's cover band and played all the hits. The price of the concert is the regular price of admission to the gardens, $7.00 for adults, and then you can go walk through the gardens during the concert. We took our last bottle of wine and went to explore.

Off we go into the gardens with the wine.

We had to stop to take some "senior picutres" along the way...

The flowers were truly gorgeous.

There is an adorable train city that, unfortunately, was not running.
Look familiar, Omaha?

Overall, the Temp of Twilight concert series is a lot like Jazz on the Green. It's in a much smaller area with less people though, and you can experience one of the most beautiful places in Omaha. We had a lot of fun and can only hope to make this the summer of picnics.
