The Icy Remains of Metz Mansion

Recently, a fire broke out at a 106 year-old mansion in Midtown - the Metz Mansion - which was formally owned by one of Nebraska's first brewers, the Metz Family. This mansion is an example of Georgian Revival Style which, at the time, was apparently a way to proclaim your wealth or power, at at least your aspirations to these.

No shit.

It's a real tragedy what happened to this beautiful historical home though. For so long, Omaha's wealthiest families were brewers. I don't now why I find that so interesting, but I do. Actually, reading this report about these houses located in the Blackstone District is pretty rad. Maybe, I'll make a spring project to visit and take pictures of all of these mansions listed...
